Ingredients

2 slices white bread, cubed2 tablespoons raisins1 egg1/2 cup evaporated milk3 tablespoons water2 tablespoons sugar1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon1/4 teaspoon ground nutmegBUTTER SAUCE:2 tablespoons butter2 tablespoons sugar1 egg yolk, beaten1 tablespoon water1 tablespoon bourbon, optional

Preparation

Divide bread cubes and raisins between two greased 8-oz. ramekins or custard cups.

In a small bowl, whisk the egg, milk, water, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Pour over bread mixture.

Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 35-40 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool for 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, melt butter. Stir in the sugar, egg yolk and water. Cook and stir over medium-low heat for 4 minutes or until sugar is dissolved and mixture comes to a boil. Remove from the heat; stir in bourbon if desired. Serve warm with bread pudding.
