Ingredients
2 packages (1/4 ounce each) active dry yeast2 cups warm water (110° to 115°)3 cups shredded cheddar cheese1/2 cup minced chives1/4 cup butter, softened1/4 cup sugar1-1/2 teaspoons salt1 teaspoon dried thyme5-3/4 to 6-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
Preparation
In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add the cheese, chives, butter, sugar, salt, thyme and 3 cups flour. Beat on medium for 3 minutes. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough.
Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
Punch dough down. Shape into two loaves and place in greased 9x5-in. loaf pans. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 30 minutes.
Bake at 350° for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pans to cool on a wire rack.
