Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour2 cups old-fashioned oats1 cup chopped pecans1/2 cup toasted wheat germ1/2 cup packed brown sugar1 teaspoon salt1 teaspoon baking soda1 teaspoon ground cinnamon1/2 teaspoon ground allspice1 cup butter, melted1/2 cup honey2 eggs, beaten1 teaspoon vanilla extract1 jar (12 ounces) cherry preserves1/3 cup dried cherries, chopped1/2 cup sweetened shredded coconut

Preparation

In a large bowl, combine the first nine ingredients. In another bowl, combine the butter, honey, eggs and vanilla. Stir into oat mixture until combined. Set aside 1-1/3 cups for topping.

Press remaining oat mixture into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan. Combine preserves and dried cherries; spread over crust. Sprinkle with coconut and reserved oat mixture; press down lightly.

Bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into bars.
