Ingredients
4 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped1/2 cup butter, cubed4 large eggs, room temperature2 cups sugar2 teaspoons vanilla extract1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour1 cup chopped nuts, optionalFILLING:2 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened1/2 cup sugar1 large egg, room temperature2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350°. In a microwave, melt chocolate and butter; stir until smooth. Cool slightly. In a large bowl, beat eggs and sugar. Stir in vanilla and the chocolate mixture. Gradually add flour to chocolate mixture (batter will be thick). Stir in nuts if desired.
Spread half the batter evenly into a greased 13x9-in. baking pan; set aside.
In a small bowl, beat filling ingredients until blended. Gently spread over batter. Spoon remaining batter over filling; spread to cover.
Bake 45-50 minutes or until filling is set. Cool on a wire rack 1 hour. Refrigerate at least 2 hours. Cut into bars. Refrigerate leftovers.
