Ingredients

2 medium carrots, chopped2 celery ribs, chopped1 large onion, finely chopped8 bone-in chicken thighs (about 3 pounds), skin removed1 package (14 ounces) smoked turkey sausage, cut into 1/2-inch slices1/4 cup ketchup6 garlic cloves, minced1 tablespoon Louisiana-style hot sauce1 teaspoon dried basil1 teaspoon paprika1 teaspoon dried thyme1/2 teaspoon dried oregano1/2 teaspoon pepper1/4 teaspoon ground allspice1 teaspoon browning sauce, optional

Preparation

In a 4- or 5-qt. slow cooker, combine the carrots, celery and onion. Top with chicken and sausage.

In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, garlic, hot sauce, seasonings and, if desired, browning sauce. Spoon over meats. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until chicken is tender.
