Ingredients

3 large eggs, room temperature3/4 cup sugar1/2 cup butter, melted2 teaspoons almond extract1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour2 teaspoons baking powderTOPPING:1 cup semisweet chocolate chips1/2 cup butter, cubed2 tablespoons baking cocoa2 tablespoons water4 teaspoons almond extractChopped almonds

Preparation

Preheat pizzelle maker. Beat the first 4 ingredients until smooth. In another bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder; stir into egg mixture.

Bake in pizzelle maker according to manufacturer’s directions until golden brown. Cool completely on wire racks.

In a microwave, melt chocolate chips and butter; stir until smooth. Stir in cocoa, water and extract until blended. Drizzle over pizzelles. Sprinkle with almonds; let stand until set. Store in airtight containers.
